Performance Tips & Best Practices
Optimize your setup for smooth 24/7 automation without impacting your workflow
Mission Control Desktop Setup (Highly Recommended)
Want fewer visual interruptions when instances launch? See Minimizing Launch Interruptions (macOS).
Why Use a Dedicated Desktop?
Creating a dedicated macOS Desktop (Space) for your BlueStacks instances and OriginsBot allows them to run continuously in the background without interfering with your daily computer use.
This is the best way to achieve true "set it and forget it" automation while still using your Mac normally.
Learn more about working in multiple Spaces in Apple's guide: Work in multiple spaces on Mac.
Dedicated Desktop (Spaces) Summary
Use Mission Control to create a separate Desktop (Space) and assign your BlueStacks instances there. This keeps automation running in the background without interrupting your main workspace. For step-by-step setup, see Minimizing Launch Interruptions (macOS).

CPU & RAM Management
BlueStacks Resource Impact
Each BlueStacks instance requires CPU and RAM. Running multiple instances will impact your Mac's performance, especially during resource-intensive tasks like video editing or gaming.
Calculating Total Resource Usage
With the recommended settings (2 cores, 2GB RAM per instance), estimate your total usage:
1 Instance
2 cores, 2GB RAM
3 Instances
6 cores, 6GB RAM
5 Instances
10 cores, 10GB RAM
Make sure your Mac has enough resources available. As a rule of thumb, leave at least 25% of your CPU and RAM free for macOS and other applications.
Optimization Strategies
Lower Frame Rates
Reduce frame rate to 15 FPS or lower if you don't need to monitor visually
Close Unnecessary Apps
Quit apps you're not using to free up resources
Monitor with Activity Monitor
Use macOS Activity Monitor to check CPU and RAM usage in real-time
Avoiding Performance Interference
When using your Mac for other tasks while OriginsBot is running:
Light tasks (browsing, email, documents) usually work fine with automation running
Heavy tasks (video editing, 3D rendering, gaming) may cause slowdowns on both sides
Using a dedicated Desktop space ensures automation doesn't interrupt your workflow visually
Pro Tier: Auto-Management Features
Intelligent Resource Management
Pro tier subscribers get access to auto-management features that optimize performance by automatically closing and relaunching BlueStacks instances when they're not actively running tasks. Pro can also limit the number of concurrent instances to match your Mac's capacity and automatically queue the rest.
Upgrade to ProAuto-Close Idle Instances
When a BlueStacks instance has no active or scheduled tasks, OriginsBot Pro can automatically close it to free up CPU and RAM resources.
Example: If you have 5 instances but only 2 have active tasks, the other 3 will be automatically closed to save resources until they're needed again.
Auto-Relaunch When Needed
When a task is scheduled or becomes ready to run, OriginsBot Pro automatically relaunches the corresponding BlueStacks instance, so your automation never misses a beat.
This ensures maximum uptime for automation while minimizing resource consumption during idle periods.
Limit Concurrent Instances
Set a maximum number of instances to run at the same time. Pro automatically queues additional instances and starts them as resources free up—ideal for users with many accounts.
Example: Cap at 3 concurrent instances. If 7 are scheduled, Pro runs 3 now and launches the rest as slots open.
Benefits of Auto-Management
Reduced Resource Usage
Only run instances when needed
Better Mac Performance
More resources for other tasks
Fully Automated
No manual management needed
100% Uptime
Instances launch when needed
Controlled Concurrency
Limit concurrent instances to your Mac's capacity
Additional Best Practices
Keep Your Mac Awake
Your Mac's state—whether it's awake, asleep, or just has the display off—critically affects how OriginsBot functions. At minimum, prevent system sleep. For full automation (including Pro features like auto-relaunch), keep the display on.
Quick setup: Use apps like Amphetamine (App Store) or adjust System Settings > Displays > Advanced. Learn more about Mac states and automation →
Stable Internet Connection
Ensure you have a stable internet connection. Consider using Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi for more reliable connectivity, especially when running multiple instances.
Monitor Temperature
Running multiple instances can generate heat. Ensure your Mac has adequate ventilation and consider using a cooling pad if temperatures get too high (check with apps like iStat Menus).
Experiencing Performance Issues?
If you're experiencing lag, crashes, or slowdowns:
- • Reduce the number of BlueStacks cores and RAM allocation
- • Lower the frame rate to 10-15 FPS
- • Run fewer instances simultaneously
- • Consider upgrading to Pro for auto-management features
- • Check Activity Monitor for resource hogs and close unnecessary apps
